Assignment 02 - File, Folder and Program Properties
Create a WordPad document named the first 5 letters of your last name,
followed by your first initial, followed by the assignment number 02. For
example, my file would be named HARRIH02.doc since my last name is Harris, my
first name is Hal, and we are completing assignment number 02.
To start WordPad, click on START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, WORDPAD.
Save your blank document to your floppy disk. HINT: Click on File, then click
SAVE, then type A:\HARRIH02 (substituting your name after A:\), then press the
ENTER key.
Minimize your WordPad document and follow these steps:
- Click the START button and then click MY COMPUTER on the Start menu.
- Click the Folders button in the My Computer window.
- Double-click the LOCAL DISK (C:) icon. If necessary, click Show the
contents of this folder.
- Double-click the WINDOWS icon. If necessary, click the Show the contents
of this folder link.
- Scroll the right pane until the Soap Bubbles icon is visible. If the Soap
Bubbles icon is not available on your computer, find the icon of another file.
Type the answers to the following questions into your WordPad document.
HINT: You can quickly switch between two windows by holding down ALT and
tapping the TAB key, then release the ALT button. To switch back, do the same
thing again.
- Right-click the Soap Bubbles icon (or the icon you chose above). Click
PROPERTIES on the shortcut menu. Answer the following questions about the Soap
Bubbles file:
a. What type of file is Soap Bubbles? _____________
b. What program is used to open the Soap Bubbles image? _____________
c. What is the path (location) of the Soap Bubbles file? _____________
d. What is the size (in bytes) of the Soap Bubbles file? _____________
e. When was the file created? _____________
f. When was the file last modified? _____________
g. When was the file last accessed? _____________
- Click the CLOSE button in the Soap Bubbles Properties dialog box.
Save your WordPad document. Turn in this file by copying it to the network
into the \\harris\homework folder. See instructions from the first assignment on
